Announcements and updates

ChurchNext: Re-planting Conference. CMM is hosting this two-part conference in Grand Rapids, MI on June 9-10/Oct. 6-7, 2012. Its focus is to help churches with plans to relocate or otherwise restart. Questions? Email Randy Bloom.

Church planters moving to L.A. Good news! Sadie and Angie Tabin are approved by the U.S. government to move from the Philippines to start a new GCI congregation within the Filipino community in Southern California.


Angie (at right) will be an assistant pastor in New Hope Christian Fellowship (the GCI congregation in Eagle Rock, CA pastored by Glen Weber). She and Sadie (at left) will focus on starting the new church by reconnecting with small groups they began on a previous visit. Please pray that their transition to life in the U.S. goes well and that their church planting efforts bear much fruit.

CMM Summit in Memphis. CMM conducted its third annual Church Multiplication Summit in Memphis, TN on March 30-31. The event gathered those who are working to advance church planting in GCI-USA.

  • Randy Bloom discussed church planting progress, identifying and resourcing potential church planters, and the role of district pastors in church planting networks
  • Dan Rogers urged that GCI national, district and congregational ministries place high priority on advancing church planting
  • Church planters Mary Bacheller, Dishon Mills, Tom Kennebeck and Heber Ticas discussed their experiences and needs
  • District pastors shared insights and resources related to developing district church planting networks
  • Heber Ticas consulted with the other church planters in attendance
  • Each participant defined next steps forward in advancing church planting

Satellite church in L.A. Heber Ticas and his team of nine families recently launched a new GCI “satellite” church in Los Angeles (click here for an update).
